The deck didn't need him on the field to win. Card Text: Whenever another nontoken creature you control dies. I built my deck to have a lot of synergistic lines, so Sek'kuar was merely a combo piece in the command zone. Ideally you'd have at least one effect to apply +1/+1 counters on ETB on board prior, but Grumgully is tutorable so the floor to win is 8 mana which isnt hard to get in Jund. If you use Murderous Redcap, you can skip Invoker and burn the table with just itself, Skirk, and Grumgully. Repeat this loop to generate infinite Red mana.Ĭast Flamewave Invoker, use its activate ability to burn the table down. Grumgully triggers on ETB putting a +1/+1 counter on Putrid, negating the -1/-1 counter. Persist triggers bringing Putrid Goblin back to the battlefield. Sacrifice Putrid Goblin to Skirk Prospector, make Red mana. One of my favorite combos was ] to tutor up ] + ] or ] + ] + ] = infinite red mana, infinite damage, infinite Graveborn with Sek'kuar out. Using ] or ] with ] ends up in a loop with the witness in the grave and persist in hand. Immediately I saw something with him that got me brewing but asking around for more ideas with this guy won't hurt. Instead of giving you value like mana or card draw, he just gives you hasty dudes. I saw this guy and he seemed pretty cool. Sure Korvold is probably one of if not the best for Jund but I've seen enough of him in my playgroup and LGS so I wanted something a bit different.Įnter ]. Looking through the top commanders for the color combo and there are a lot of strong ones. This probably immediately nixes any tribal synergies we want to include as 'Graveborn' isn't a common creature type. When they do, we create a 3/1 black and red Graveborn creature token with haste. I've been wanting to build a Jund deck for some time now as I figured building 3 color decks is something I don't do often enough. Sek'Kuar is one of the few legends in the game that cares specifically about our nontoken creatures dying (we'll talk about others soon).
